Families of Scotch Plains/Fanwood Lacrosse Club-
On behalf of the entire SPF Lacrosse Club Board I hope that you and your family are doing well and staying safe. We understand it is a challenging time for everyone and certainly remind everyone to do their part to help “flatten the curve” with COVID-19.
We remain in a holding pattern for our spring lacrosse season. Two things we need to practice and play are fields and opponents. Neither have become available and we do not have a date when we expect that they will. Please stay with us as we are constantly communicating with both NJ boys and girls leagues along with the local and school officials about field space when it becomes available. We are still hopeful that we may be able to play this spring at some level.
In the meantime, I am pleased to announce that your coaches will soon be sending you videos of skills and drills that can be practiced by your sons and daughters. These are videos applicable to all levels of lacrosse and can be done safely and even individually if you follow these rules:
- No lacrosse balls in the house. Stay outside!
- Practice social distancing if doing your practice with others.
- Please do not use school, local or county fields. This is currently not allowed for anyone of the public and doing so as lacrosse players may only further jeopardize our club’s ability to get field usage in the future.
Thank you for staying with us and know that this decision to further delay is painful for us volunteers and coaches as well. Personally, it is my first March in 40 years that I am not playing or coaching lacrosse. It is a huge void right now, but we do believe we will be back playing and coaching the game we all love!
